CRISPR-U™ Gene Knockout Cell Line Strategy

FTL Gene Knockout Strategy

CRISPR-U™ technology (CRISPR based), developed by Ubigene, is more efficient than general CRISPR/Cas9 technology in double-strand breaking and homologous recombination. With CRISPR-U™, Ubigene has successfully edited over 3000 genes on more than 100 types of cell lines.
Objective
To create a Human FTL Knockout model in cell line by CRISPR-U™-mediated genome engineering.
Target gene info
Official symbol FTL
Gene id 2512
Organism Homo sapiens
Official full symbol ferritin light chain
Gene type protein-coding
Also known as LFTD, NBIA3
Summary This gene encodes the light subunit of the ferritin protein. Ferritin is the major intracellular iron storage protein in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of 24 subunits of the heavy and light ferritin chains. Variation in ferritin subunit composition may affect the rates of iron uptake and release in different tissues. A major function of ferritin is the storage of iron in a soluble and nontoxic state. Defects in this light chain ferritin gene are associated with several neurodegenerative diseases and hyperferritinemia-cataract syndrome. This gene has multiple pseudogenes.
Genomic regions Chromosome 19
