CRISPR-U™ Gene Knockout Cell Line Strategy

FABP5 Gene Knockout Strategy

CRISPR-U™ technology (CRISPR based), developed by Ubigene, is more efficient than general CRISPR/Cas9 technology in double-strand breaking and homologous recombination. With CRISPR-U™, Ubigene has successfully edited over 3000 genes on more than 100 types of cell lines.
Objective
To create a Human FABP5 Knockout model in cell line by CRISPR-U™-mediated genome engineering.
Target gene info
Official symbol FABP5
Gene id 2171
Organism Homo sapiens
Official full symbol fatty acid binding protein 5
Gene type protein-coding
Also known as E-FABP, EFABP, KFABP, PA-FABP, PAFABP
Summary This gene encodes the fatty acid binding protein found in epidermal cells, and was first identified as being upregulated in psoriasis tissue. Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. FABPs may play roles in fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism. Polymorphisms in this gene are associated with type 2 diabetes. The human genome contains many pseudogenes similar to this locus.
Genomic regions Chromosome 8
